Congratulations to second-grade teacher Kathleen Mehari who was recognized as the FCPS 2020 Region 1 Outstanding Elementary Teacher and one of five finalists for the 2020 Outstanding Teacher Award!

When you walk into Kathleen’s classroom, you know you have entered a positive, warm, and nurturing learning environment. You will witness a sense of community that grows, learns, laughs, cries, and creates together. Every day, time is allotted to create a classroom climate in which all students can thrive and reach their full potential. Kathleen prioritizes building relationships within her classroom so that all students feel respected, motivated, and appreciated. Students are encouraged to take risks with their education with the understanding that all students learn at different paces and in different ways. She helps students discover their personal learning strengths, and the students know that their best effort will always make Ms. Mehari proud.
