Margarete Grove
Dr. Maggie Grove has been Principal of Wolftrap Elementary School since 2021. With more than 30 years of experience in education, including teaching, consulting, and leadership roles, Dr. Grove is committed to providing high-quality education for all students. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Tulane University, a Master of Education in School Administration and a Master of Arts in Teaching Elementary Education from Trinity University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education Policy, Planning and Administration from the University of Maryland. Locally, Dr. Grove served as a Principal in the Washington DC charter school system and began her career at Wolftrap in 2012, as a fourth-grade teacher. In 2016, she was selected to work as an Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART). From 2018-2021, Dr. Grove was assistant principal at Wolftrap, where she led various grade level teams, created, and implemented a peer observation model that provided time for teachers to visit colleagues’ classrooms, and worked to increase students’ access to rigorous curricular materials. Dr. Grove is honored to serve Wolftrap families in her role as Principal.
Megan Tipton
Ms. Tipton has over 12 years in education with professional experience in a variety of roles. She started her teaching career at Bettie F. Williams Elementary School in Virginia Beach and has been a dedicated member of the Forest Edge school community for the past 7 years. Ms. Tipton taught both full time Advanced Academics and inclusion general education 5th grade classes at Forest Edge before transitioning to the role of Math Coach. In her role as Math Coach, Ms. Tipton developed and led professional development for teachers in Number Sense Routines, the implementation of the workshop model and integrating active, hands-on science experiences.
Most recently, Ms. Tipton has been the Assistant Principal at Forest Edge, where she has worked closely with the administrative and coaching teams to support teachers, promote effective teaching strategies, and close achievement gaps for all students. As a leader she is proactive, communicative, and strategic. Ms. Tipton has also supported Fairfax County in developing curriculum for Math and Science, division wide. Ms. Tipton has served as the administrator for Summer School at Forest Edge and Freedom Hill Elementary, leading initiatives to building and maintaining student learning in math and literacy.
Ms. Tipton received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Longwood University, Master of Science in Educational Leadership from George Mason University and was selected to join the prestigious cohort in Fairfax County to earn her endorsement in Administration and Supervision. Ms. Tipton is caring, collaborative and dedicated to serving all students through family engagement, supporting teachers, and truly seeing the best in all students and families.
Ms. Tipton is thrilled to join the Wolftrap community and continue to create a safe and engaging learning environment and build strong relationships with staff, students, and families. We are excited to welcome her to Wolftrap!
