Fairfax County Public Schools offers a continuum of advanced academic services for students K-12 that builds upon students' individual strengths and skills and maximizes the academic potential for all learners.

Our Advanced Academics Resource Teacher

Our Wolftrap Advanced Academic resource teacher (AART), Mrs. Samira Newman, collaborates with the school staff to determine the appropriate level of advanced academic services. Parents may refer their child for advanced academic services or get additional information on the screening process or advanced academic opportunities at Wolftrap by contacting Mrs. Newman at @email.  Ongoing observation and assessment ensure that student needs are being met.

Wed, Sep 27: 5-6pm – Parent Information Meeting 1: Introduction to AAP and Continuum of Services. This information session will be open to all K-6 families and will take place in the Wolftrap Library from 5:00pm-6:00pm.

Mon, Oct 2: 8:45am – 9:30am - Parent Information Meeting 2: Understanding the Full-Time AAP Screening Process. This information session will be open to all K-6 families and will take place in the Wolftrap Library from 8:45am-9:30am.

Sun, Oct 15  -AAP Full Time (Level IV) Referral Form for new FCPS students in grades 3-6 (enrolled after January 2023 and geographically new) due October 15, 2023 to our AART, Contact Samira Newman.

Thurs, Dec 15 - Due date for AAP Full Time (Level IV) Referral Forms (gr 2-6) for the 2024-2025 school year.  Referral forms and optional materials from parents are due to our AART, Samira Newman.
